Conservancy Members Help Protect Pristine Toccoa River Property

In early December 2011, the Georgia Conservancy issued a call to help bring protection to a critical tract of land on the Toccoa River in the north Georgia mountains. Our members came through with flying colors and provided the funding necessary to close the deal. By late December, a conservation easement had been recorded, giving the tract permanent protection from development. The Georgia Land Trust played a key role in securing the preservation of this land and will hold the conservation easement.
This tract encompasses more than 100 acres and one-half mile of river frontage. The Toccoa
River watershed in this area has very high biodiversity. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the watershed harbors 69 species of special concern.
We want to thank you, our members, for helping preserve this land forever.
