Call For Art – June 15 Deadline
What’s the cause?
This call for art will support protection efforts for the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale. Fewer than 350 individuals are left and the species’ recovery is dependent on the protection of every remaining whale.
Each fall and winter, North Atlantic Right Whales migrate south to the coastal waters of Georgia and Florida. This area represents the whales’ only known calving grounds. Sadly, the whales’ population continues to decline. Boat strikes and entanglement with commercial fishing gear are the leading causes of death and injuries.
Why We Need Your Help
We are curating submissions for artwork to be featured on a sign urging boaters to travel at safe speeds in areas where right whales are known to occur. The signs will be placed in marinas across coastal Georgia.
DETAILS
We are accepting submissions of all artworks, regardless of medium. One artwork will be selected to be incorporated into the sign.
Submissions will be accepted until June 15th.
$250 stipend will go to the artist of the selected artwork.
All types of artwork will be accepted. If submitting a 3D artwork, send a picture of the artwork portraying it in its best light.
Artwork should not include any textual component, slogan, or verbal messaging.
The selected artwork will be integrated into a sign design. The editors reserve the right to alter and use the image in any way to create the finalized design.

Art Exhibition
Participating artists will have an opportunity to display and sell their original artworks at an exhibition at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center in Fall 2023.
