What to Expect
Join the Georgia Conservancy on Saturday, July 19 for our Broad River Day Paddle! During our 11-mile paddle, we’ll be introducing adventurers to one of east Georgia’s most beautiful and diverse rivers.
Part of the greater Savannah River watershed, the 110-mile Broad River finds its genesis in three separate locations in Northeast Georgia, as the main section of the Broad is formed by its North, South, and Middle Forks. The main stem of the Broad meets the Savannah River at Clarks Hill Lake at the South Carolina border.
Participants will meet at the Broad River Outpost on Saturday morning at 9 AM.

The Schedule
Saturday, July 19
Meeting point: Broad River Outpost
Participants will meet at the Broad River Outpost on Saturday morning at 9 AM.
The 11-mile section of the Broad that we will be exploring during our Saturday paddle is located between Hwy 51 and the Broad River Outpost’s Danielsville location. Beginning on the Middle Fork of the Broad at Hwy 51 we will pass through a number of Class 1 shoals before meeting the North Fork of the Broad. From there we will be welcomed by a number of islands, Class 1 shoals, rocky outcroppings, and the confluence with Georgia’s very own Hudson River before taking out at the Broad River Outpost downstream.

Please arrive by 9 AM on Saturday, July 19. Be on the lookout for Georgia Conservancy Staff and Volunteers.
What Should I Pack?
Georgia Conservancy will send you a detailed suggested packing list a couple weeks before the trip.
Is This Family Friendly?
This is an intermediate fitness level trip, so while we welcome teens and their parents, young children don’t do well.
How Do I Get Back To My Car?
For our paddling trips, we facilitate a shuttle for all participants. We ensure that the majority of boat carrying vehicles are waiting at the takeout, ready for participants when they get off the water. Details will be explained during our pre-trip emails, and plenty of shuttle instruction is provided in the field. We never leave anyone behind!
