Join the Georgia Conservancy and the Ossabaw Island Foundation for a weekend service and education trip to Ossabaw Island on November 13 – 15. This trip is an incredibly rare opportunity to enjoy a primitive and remote barrier island, and to support its preservation by giving back with some elbow grease. Guests will do everything – landscaping, scrubbing and cleaning the historic structures, brush removal, odd jobs, etc. Guests can choose from three different lodging options: camping, a bed in the Club House, or a private room for two in the Boarding House. Guests will enjoy a weekend that includes ferry transportation, lodging, meals, an Ossabaw island tour, and much more.
Our headquarters for the weekend, the Club House, will be the location for our prepared meals and a gathering place in the evenings for meetings and socializing. Relaxing on the Club House wraparound porch, complete with rocking chairs and ceiling fans, is one of the best activities on Ossabaw Island.

“Ossabaw Island, on the Georgia coast, contains 26,000 acres of maritime forest, tidal wetlands and wide beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. It is an unspoiled place set aside by the State of Georgia as a heritage preserve for natural, scientific and cultural study, and research and education. It’s only 20 minutes by boat from Savannah, yet it’s worlds apart. Ossabaw Island is where loggerhead sea turtles and endangered wood storks nest; where students learn research techniques and the value of an unspoiled place; where historic cultures are studied; and where photographers, writers, painters and musicians find inspiration.”
The Schedule
Friday: Arrival Day
Meeting point: Delegal Marina on Skidaway Island
Our weekend will begin at Delegal Marina on Skidaway Island. There will be one ferry time option this year for participants: 3:00 PM. Participants must arrive by 2:15 PM. The ferry ride from Skidaway to Ossabaw is approximately 30 min.
Once on Ossabaw Island, we will get you set up with your lodging for the weekend, followed by announcements, a brief tour of the North End, happy hour, and dinner.
Saturday: Giving Back To Ossabaw
After a hearty breakfast, we will begin service projects under the direction of the Ossabaw Island Foundation. There will be options for all ability levels. After projects finish in the afternoon, guests will have the option for free time/exploration or joining in on some guided activities.
Sunday: Heading Home 🙁
We will have two departures times scheduled for the ferry on Sunday morning. But before we leave, enjoy a sunrise and breakfast and the chance to swap stories.

What Should I Pack?
You will be sent a suggested packing list a few weeks out from the trip, along with any updates a few days out.
Is This Family Friendly?

What's The Deal With Meals?
We will feed you well! The Georgia Conservancy will provide all meals for the duration of the trip. During registration, please mention and allergies and/or dietary restrictions so that we can accommodate you. We will provide you with our menus for the weekend during our pre-trip emails.
