What to Expect
Join the Georgia Conservancy’s Generation Green for an Earth Week Service Project on Saturday, April 18 at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Douglas County.

Located just 15 miles west of Downtown Atlanta, Sweetwater Creek State Park is a beautiful 2,500-acre park within the Chattahoochee River watershed that features a recreational lake, cascading streams, river shoals, and the historical ruins of the New Manchester Mill, which was burned during the Civil War. Sweetwater Creek was also the birthplace of the Georgia Conservancy in 1967 and was one of the first places our nascent organization helped to protect.
About Generation Green: Generation Green (or “Gen Green”) is the young professionals group of the Georgia Conservancy—built for those who care deeply about the land, water, and communities that make Georgia home. We’re a diverse and growing network of changemakers, adventurers, and advocates, ages 25 to 45, who believe conservation is more than a cause—it’s a way of living with intention and impact.
The Schedule
Saturday Morning: Welcome to Sweetwater Creek!
We will meet at the Sweetwater Creek State Park Visitor Center for introductions and orientation of the planned projects. We plan to begin projects by 9:30 AM and wrap up by 1 PM.

Arrival Time
Please plan to arrive around 8:45 AM to allow time for parking, restrooms, and check-in. A Georgia State Parks Day Pass is required and can be purchased on-site.
Look for the Georgia Conservancy sign.
What Should I Pack?
Please bring a reusable water bottle, snacks, closed-toe shoes, pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and a sense of adventure. The Georgia Conservancy will provide water, tools, and gloves.
Optional: binoculars.
What Are The Service Projects?
Service projects are TBD. Please check back for more details.
Accessibility & Terrain:
Depending on the projects, terrain may be a mix of paved paths, dirt trails, staircases, and muddy/rocky creek banks.
