The Georgia Conservancy’s 2021-2023 Strategic Plan
The Georgia Conservancy is excited to announce that 2021 kicks-off our new three-year strategic plan. This living document stands firmly on the foundation of the Georgia Conservancy’s history and is the result of input from a wide variety of stakeholders including trustees, members, staff, partners, legislators and funders; it seeks to fuel the vision of a preferred future for a Georgia where all people and the environment thrive.
As our communities and environment continue to face pressures from population increase and climate change, the Georgia Conservancy understands that the efficient use of land and strategic conservation of natural resources is critical to ensuring a prosperous and equitable future. The plan outlines ways in which we can address these challenges by partnering together to create solutions balancing three priorities: ecology, economy and equity.
Our work will focus in four areas: healthy natural systems, thriving communities, engaged Georgians, and a strong Georgia Conservancy in service of our updated mission: Protecting Georgia through ecological and economic solutions for stewardship, conservation and sustainable use of the land and its resources.
Our Vision: A Georgia where all people and the environment thrive.
Our Mission: Protecting Georgia through ecological and economic solutions for stewardship, conservation, and sustainable use of the land and its resources.
Our History: Founded in 1967, the Georgia Conservancy has a rich history of working with private citizens, business, government, and academia to protect and conserve the state's natural resources.
The integrity of natural systems – air, land, water, plants and animals – and their services have value that must be conserved and restored for present and future generations.
Stewardship of Georgia’s natural resources is the responsibility of every individual, organization, government, and business.
A healthy environment and healthy economy are vital to a thriving society.
In conserving Georgia’s natural resources, we must understand the changing climate and act accordingly.
Principled advocacy relies upon sound data and inclusive collaboration.
Protect and restore Georgia’s natural systems for a sustainable future.
Position Georgia’s communities to be more resilient to ecological, demographic and economic stresses.
Create stewards and foster appreciation by connecting all Georgians to our natural resources.
Increase efficiency and effectiveness of Georgia Conservancy’s operations.
